Burrell 3/4 Jazz Guitar (Electric)

Burrell 3/4 Jazz Guitar (Electric) JG023

  • This Jazz Guitar is the latest BURRELL Jazz Guitar - finished in early November 2008.
It is the last of the BURRELL Instruments to have the 2-level Headstock with E, A, D on the upper level and G, B, & E on the lower level. While this arrangement represents a move in the ergonomic direction - having all Bass-side Grover Mini-locking Tuners that face the Artist while he/she is playing, Mr. Burrell has moved on to an even more ergonomic Design for his Headstocks. You may view that arrangement on the
Burrell-on-Tele BT001 in the Gallery or Store.
This 2-level arrangement will still be available upon request for future ORDERED Instruments.

  • It has a 3-board glued-up Curly Maple Neck (3 boards are stronger than 1...its Biblical) that is guaranteed to not warp (the only non-warp Guaranty in the Industry). The Neck is shaped by hand in a unique BURRELL Router Jig so as to have an 8 degree twist (BURRELL Patent US4,534,260) and the Curly Maple Fretboard is glued & pressed to it. The Fretboard was also hand-shaped in a unique BURRELL Router Jig to conform to the FENDER style Compound Radius & has the FENDER Style 25.5" Fret Scale and has 22 "low profile" wide Frets (they look like Jumbos but offer smooth transition from fret-to-fret when sliding up-and-down the Neck).

  • The Top, Sides, & Back of JG023 are all Curly Maple Boards (no plywood) and are bound with Indian Rosewood - not a plastic look-alike.

  • Mr. Burrell is an Artist! No 2 Instruments are exactly alike. This guitar has a Color Job like no other. He applied 3 layers of stain with an Air-brush to achieve this "Sunburst." A few coats of Nitro-cellulose Lacquer wet-sanded by hand and some careful buffing completes the work.

  • Scale length 25½" Standard (Other scale lengths available).

  • The Nut is Surell, a material more the consistency of Bone than the Corian Mr. Burrell normally uses; the Bridge is "Tune-O-Matic" Style, and the Tailpiece is of 3 Curly Maple boards formed to match the curvature of the Arched Body of the Instrument. Do we need to mention again that 3 boards are stronger than 1? And of course the Pickguard is also 3 Curly Maple boards formed...(but of course!).

  • The Controls for the EMG 81/89 pickups are: 3-way Toggle Switch permitting Neck/Bridge/or Both pickups operating, and 2 Volume & 2 Tone Controls. (Others available).

  • Scale length 25½" Standard (Other scale lengths available).

  • Overall body length is 19¾”.

  • Upper Bout length is 12”.

  • Waist length is 11”.

  • Lower Bout length is 15¾”.

  • Depth is 1¾”.

  • Of course you may order a similar Instrument of your choice of colors, Tuner arrangements, Instrumentation configuration, Scale-length, etc. There are no up-charges for this-or-that on BURRELL Hand-made Instruments. Wood type, Binding, Fret markers, etc. are all part of the Instrument so why would we nickel-dime our Customers?

  • THIS IS A CHRISTMAS SPECIAL! Mr. Burrell has other Instruments to build, and there won't be another JAZZ Guitar until early 2009. The Price is $2,100.00 and includes a nice Chinese-made Generic Tweed Case.

Burrell-on-Tele Electric Guitar (Electric)

Burrell-on-Tele Electric Guitar BT001

  • Curly Maple Fretboard w/Fender style Compound Radius 25.5" Scale-length.

  • 3-board Curly Maple BURRELL Patented twisted Neck (the Saddle is aproximately 8 degrees rotated about the Nut).

  • Unique Headstock pattern that is reminescent of BURRELL headstocks Mr. Burrell used on his original Instruments made way back in the mid 1980's.

  • 24 low-profile Frets (they look like Jumbo frets, but are wide-and-low)for easy transition from fret-to-fret when sliding up or down the Neck.

  • 4 Bass-side Grover mini-locking Tuners for the wound strings & 2 Grover geared Banjo Tuners for the plain strings. (This arrangement makes adjustment of the Tune easier...no reaching under as with Round-robbin tuning of ordinary Instruments.)

  • Corian Nut

  • Multi-board Curly Cherry Butcher-block Body provides great sustain and an extremely rare Body material - so rare that it is unlikely any Body like it exists anywhere in the world. The Body was sprayed with Nitro-cellulose Lacquer, and in the time since the Body was finished the wood has shrunk somewhat - leaving a noticeable unevenness in the lacquer at the board joints.

  • EMG Pickups, pre-wired at EMG and assembled by a BURRELL Technician...no mistakes, no loose solder joints, and a great EMG sound.

  • A standard Tele control configuration - familiar to most Artists

  • GHS light Boomer Strings

Burrell-on-Tele Electric Guitar (Electric)

Burrell-on-Tele Electric Guitar BT002

  • New headstock configuration...4 Grover Mini-locking Bass-side Tuners for strings 3, 4, 5, & 6 and 2 Grover 4:1 ratio Banjo Tuners for strings 1 & 2. The sense of this arrangement is that the Tuners all face the Artist while playing the Instrument, and that the .09 & .16 ga. strings wind easily and quickly on the Banjo Tuners with no danger of slippage while playing. (This arrangement makes adjustment of the Tune easier...no reaching under as with Round-robbin tuning of ordinary Instruments.)

  • Corian Nut

  • The Body was sprayed with Nitro-cellulose Lacquer and Abalone Shell Binding.

  • EMG Pickups, pre-wired at EMG and assembled by a BURRELL Technician...no mistakes, no loose solder joints, and a great EMG sound.
