• The Ebony Fret board is laid-out for a 34" Scale-length.


• Fender-style Compound Radius and has 24 frets.


• The Corian Nut is 1¾" wide - permitting generous spacing between Strings and between the E & G strings and the edge of the fret board.


• The Neck is made-up of 3 Curly Maple Boards glued together (3 boards are stronger than 1...its Biblical).


• The Action is moderately low and can be lowered further.


• It is equipped with 40 - 90 GHS Bronze Acoustic strings.


• The Neck is attached to the Body at the 16th fret.


• The Unique shape of the BURRELL Body, together with the cut-away to the 18th fret on the lower side permits easy play to the 24th...unheard of with Flat - top Basses.


• . The String Assembly terminates at an Ebony Bridge with a Corian Saddle.


• I used Ebony "end-pins" for Bridge pins and angled them forward so as to greatly reduce the bending of stiffly wound String ends.


• The Strap-buttons are Ebony.


• The Top is made of Honduran Mahogany with a standard Rosette Inlay.


• The Sides & Back are of Indian Rosewood.


• The Sides are bound at the Top & Back with Rosewood.


• The Binding is cut vertical for greater bond to the horizontal grain of the Top, Sides, & Back.


• .The Instrument is finished with Nitro-cellulose Lacquer.


• The Fat-boy Bass measures 50" over-all length, the Body is 21" from front-to-back; 17&fra12;" wide at the lower Bout, 12½" wide at the Waist, and 13½" wide at the upper Bout. The average (aprox.) depth of the Body is 4½" at the Neck, 5¼" at the Tail, and 4¾" under the Saddle.


• I didn’t fit the Fat-boy with the customary Fishman Pro-EQ Electronic package, but I have them... the price installed is $250.00 I left it as a pure Acoustic because the people here who have played it agree it would only need to be amplified if a person were going to play it on-Stage where NOISE is a good thing. It is loud enough for most occasions...you might like to buy it now, play it for a while before deciding to spend the extra money.

• Curly Maple Fretboard w/Fender style Compound Radius 25.5" Scale-length.


• 3-board Curly Maple BURRELL Patented twisted Neck (the Saddle is aproximately 8 degrees rotated about the Nut).


• Unique Headstock pattern that is reminescent of BURRELL headstocks Mr. Burrell used on his original Instruments made way back in the mid 1980's.


• 24 low-profile Frets (they look like Jumbo frets, but are wide-and-low)for easy transition from fret-to-fret when sliding up or down the Neck.


• 4 Bass-side Grover mini-locking Tuners for the wound strings & 2 Grover geared Banjo Tuners for the plain strings. (This arrangement makes adjustment of the Tune easier...no reaching under as with Round-robbin tuning of ordinary Instruments.)


• Corian Nut


• Multi-board Curly Cherry Butcher-block Body provides great sustain and an extremely rare Body material - so rare that it is unlikely any Body like it exists anywhere in the world. The Body was sprayed with Nitro-cellulose Lacquer, and in the time since the Body was finished the wood has shrunk somewhat - leaving a noticeable unevenness in the lacquer at the board joints.


• EMG Pickups, pre-wired at EMG and assembled by a BURRELL Technician...no mistakes, no loose solder joints, and a great EMG sound.
